CHARLOTTE – Starting tonight, N.C. Department of Transportation contract crews will continue a $16.3 million project to improve 22 bridges along Interstate 277, requiring several ramp closures this week.
Crews will close ramps from the outer loop to Kenilworth Avenue and U.S. 74 West, and from Stonewall Street to the outer loop from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. Tuesday. These closures will be in place each night through Thursday morning.
At 10 p.m. Thursday, crews will close inbound lanes from Wilkinson Boulevard to the outer loop, as well as ramps from I-77 South to the outer loop (exit 9B), from the outer loop to I-77 North (exit 1C), and from Clarkson Street to the outer loop.
The closures will wrap up by 6 a.m. Friday and will close again from 10 p.m. Friday until 6 a.m. Monday, June 29.
All the work is weather dependent and subject to change. Detour information will be online at DriveNC.gov under Mecklenburg County.
Drivers need to use caution and slow down while going through the work zones and detour routes.
