MORRISVILLE — N.C. Department of Transportation contractors plan to close both directions of Interstate 40 at Aviation Parkway for several nights for bridge girder installation on the eastern half of the new bridge over the highway. The western half opened in April.
Weather permitting, crews will close I-40 from Wednesday at midnight until Thursday at 6 a.m., and again Saturday through Thursday nights from midnight until 6 a.m. the next day.
The detour will be very short as law enforcement will direct drivers up and down the on and off ramps at the Aviation Parkway interchange (Exit 285).
Motorists need to slow down and pay extra attention as they travel through the work zone.
