Overnight I-40 Closures at Davie/Forsyth County Line on Friday Night

CLEMMONS – Work on the Interstate 40 improvement project at the Davie-Forsyth County line will require the overnight closure of the interstate in both directions on Friday night.

The road shutdown is needed to safely set a new pedestrian bridge in place over I-40.

On Friday, lane closures will start going into place between N.C. 801 (Exit 180) and Harper Road (Exit 182) at 6 p.m. and the highway will be shut down by 11 p.m. All lanes of I-40 are expected to be reopened to traffic by 7 a.m. on Saturday.

Short detours will be in place overnight. All eastbound traffic will exit at N.C. 801, and will use U.S. 158 and Harper Road to return to I-40. Westbound travelers will go off the interstate at Harper Road and take U.S. 158 to reach N.C. 801 and then I-40 again.

Drivers are urged to slow down in the work zone, and to pay extra attention to detour signs as they leave the highway. As always, this work is weather dependent and may be subject to change.
