Temporary Closure of Major Guilford County Thoroughfare Planned Next Week

HIGH POINT – Utility contractors plan to temporarily close a major thoroughfare in Guilford County next week.

South Main Street will be closed to traffic in both directions between High Avenue and Commerce Avenue on July 14 from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. This closure will permit the utility crews to safely install new cellular transmission equipment on the roof of the multi-story building located at 101 South Main Street.

Southbound traffic will be rerouted to High Avenue, Wrenn Street, Commerce Avenue, and Main Street. Northbound traffic will be directed to Commerce Avenue, Elm Street, Martin Luther King, Junior Drive and Main Street.

Drivers should use caution while traveling through work zones and should plan for some delays due to detours.
