RALEIGH — N.C. Department of Transportation crews are planning an overnight closure Thursday as part of the Interstate 440 Improvements Project.
Tomorrow from 9 p.m. until 5 a.m. Friday, I-440 East will close at Jones Franklin Road (Exit 1C) to allow crews to pour the concrete deck on the eastern half of the new Melbourne Road bridge over the Beltline.
Drivers will take Exit 1C, turn left onto Jones Franklin Road, right onto Western Boulevard and then take the loop back onto I-440 East.
The ramp from Melbourne Road to I-440 East will remain open.
The work is weather dependent and rain dates are planned for the following night.
Motorists need to pay attention in the work zone and anticipate needing a little extra time for the detour.
