STATESVILLE – The N.C. Department of Transportation will implement a major overnight traffic shift this weekend as part of the I-40/I-77 interchange project in Iredell County.
Starting at 8 p.m. on Friday, July 17, both lanes of I-40 West will be shifted onto the westbound collector-distributor lanes. This shift is expected to be complete by 8 a.m. Saturday, July 18. The shift will allow work crews to safely continue the ongoing widening and additional concrete paving on I-40.
During this period, vehicles traveling to U.S. 21 will no longer use Exit 152B, but instead will continue on I-40 West through the traffic shift and use Exit 151 to access U.S. 21.
Drivers also should be aware of traffic pattern changes to the following ramps:
- I-77 Northbound to I-40 Westbound
- I-77 Southbound to I-40 Westbound
- I-40 Westbound to I-77 Southbound
Motorists should reduce speed and use caution while traveling through the work zone and anticipate some delays.
