CHARLOTTE – As part of the Graham Street extension project, N.C. Department of Transportation contract crews will temporarily close Mallard Creek Road at Harris Boulevard at 8 p.m. Friday, July 24, to safely pave the intersection. The intersection should open back to traffic on Saturday evening.
During this time, a signed detour will direct northbound drivers on Mallard Creek Road to Baucom Road, IBM Drive and Medical Plaza Drive back to Mallard Creek Road. Southbound traffic will follow the detour in reverse. One lane will be open in each direction on Harris Boulevard.
Nightly lane closures will continue for about two weeks so crews can safely complete paving work on Harris Boulevard.
The project includes widening existing Mallard Creek Road from two to four lanes between Harris Boulevard and Morris Estates Drive and building a new alignment to the intersection of Sugar Creek Road and Graham Street.
