I-85 Lanes, Ramp Close for Repair in Rowan County

SALISBURY – Drivers will notice reduced lanes and a closed exit along a stretch of Interstate 85 in Rowan County over the next two weeks.

State transportation contract crews have closed two lanes of I-85 North near the Webb Road interchange and the northbound ramp to Webb Road (Exit 70). This is allowing them to safely conduct concrete slab repairs on the interstate and rehabilitate the ramp to Webb Road.

The left two lanes are closed approaching the interchange and then traffic shifts to the inside shoulder to maintain two lanes throughout the work zone.

The closures are scheduled to be in place until Monday, Aug. 10. The timeline is weather dependent and subject to change.

While the ramp is closed, drivers will be detoured about a mile farther on I-85 North to the Peeler Road interchange (Exit 71) to turn around and head back on I-85 South to return to Webb Road.

Drivers should slow down and be cautious near the work zone and allow extra time for the detour.
