WINSTON-SALEM – With final paving work completed early along a stretch of westbound Salem Parkway, contract crews have shifted to the eastbound side of the freeway.
Supports were recently removed from underneath the Green Street pedestrian bridge, making it possible to move forward applying the top layer to the freeway between the bridge over Brookstown Avenue and the bridge over Crafton Street.
Crews completed the westbound side a day early and now plan to close this stretch on the eastbound side from 8 p.m. Wednesday, Thursday and Friday until 6 a.m. the following mornings. Eastbound drivers will exit at Cloverdale Avenue and follow a signed detour along First Street, Peters Creek Parkway, Academy Street, Old Salem Road and Main Street to return to Salem Parkway.
The work and associated closures are weather dependent and subject to change.
Drivers should slow down and be cautious near the work zone and expect the detour will take a little more travel time.
