Lane Reductions Upcoming on U.S. 421 in Forsyth County

KERNERSVILLE – Lane closures are planned on either side of U.S. 421 in eastern Forsyth County over the next few weeks as part of ongoing work on the Winston-Salem Northern Beltway project.

U.S. 421 South is scheduled to be reduced to one lane between Linville Road (Exit 228) and South Main Street in Kernersville (Exit 224) from 5:30 a.m. Monday until noon Sunday, Aug. 9.

The one-lane pattern is then set to shift to the northbound side along the same stretch of highway over the following two weeks – from 5:30 a.m. on Aug. 10 until noon on Aug. 23.

The closures will allow crews to safely work on paving, shoulder work, seeding, mulching, guardrail, and pavement marking along this stretch. The work is weather dependent and subject to change.

Drivers should slow down near the work zone, be mindful of the crews at work and expect slight delays due to the lane reductions. They may also use N.C. 66, Interstate 40 and U.S. 52 as alternative routes to avoid U.S. 421 during the closures.
