RALEIGH — As part of the Interstate 440 Improvements project, N.C. Department of Transportation contractors are scheduled to close the ramp from I-440 West to westbound Western Boulevard (Exit 2B) tonight.
The ramp will close from midnight until 6 a.m. tomorrow to allow crews to install barrier wall and repair the crash cushion.
A detour will lead drivers to exit at Jones Franklin Road (Exit 1C), turn left, and then take the I-440 East back to Western Boulevard.
This closure is weather dependent and subject to change. A rain date is planned for tomorrow night.
Motorists should allow extra time to navigate the detour and slow down and pay attention throughout the work zone.
