NEWTON – N.C. Department of Transportation maintenance crews have shut down a section of N.C. 10 in Catawba County to perform emergency roadwork.
Both lanes of N.C. 10 between Sky Drive and Neighbors Lane have been closed due to a washout on the shoulder. Maintenance on the road began at 7:56 a.m. today and is expected to be completed by 5 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 10.
Eastbound traffic on N.C. 10 will be redirected onto N.C. 16/Thornburg Drive Southeast, N.C. 16 Bridge, and into Newton. Westbound traffic will be redirected onto N.C. 16 South, N.C. 16/Thornburg Drive Southeast and N.C. 16/Thornburg Drive.
Motorists should slow down while driving through work zones and plan for some delays due to detours.
