Senior Vice President of Hickory Furniture Mart Joins State Transportation Board

RALEIGH - Hickory resident ​Brad Lail has been appointed as a new member of the N.C. Board of Transportation​.

He was appointed by Governor Roy Cooper and will represent Division 12, which is comprised of the six counties that make up the Eastern mountain region in the state.

Lail will work with N.C. Department of Transportation staff to make decisions about transportation policies and priorities. He joins 19 other individuals from across the state who represent each of NCDOT’s 14 geographical highway divisions and six areas of statewide interest. 

The governor appoints members representing the 14 highway divisions, while the speaker of the N.C. House and the N.C. Senate President Pro-Tempore each appoint three at-large members.

Lail has more than 16 years of experience on the Hickory City Council and is senior vice president of Hickory Furniture Mart and franchise hotel development, a family business he has worked with for more than 32 years. He has also served on the Greater Hickory Metropolitan Planning Organization, the N.C. Disciplinary Hearing Commission and the N.C. Building Code Council.  ​
