LEXINGTON – N.C. Department of Transportation contract crews have planned nightly lane closures on Interstate 85 next week in conjunction with an airport lighting project in Davidson County.
Weather permitting, crews plan to close two of three lanes of northbound I-85 and one lane on the southbound side of the interstate at the Hargrave Road interchange (Exit 88) from 8 p.m. Monday through Friday until 6 the following mornings.
The closures are needed to complete foundation work for special lighting that will expand the capabilities of Runway 6 at the Davidson County Airport. The project is a joint effort with NCDOT's Division of Aviation.
Drivers should slow down and anticipate the lane reductions near the Hargrave Road interchange and be mindful of crews working close to the travel lanes during these time periods.
