MORRISVILLE — N.C. Department of Transportation contractors are planning multiple lane closures on a pair of projects on Interstate 40 near RDU Airport tonight.
Crews plan to close the three lanes of I-40 closest to the median in each direction at the Aviation Parkway interchange (Exit 285). The closures will allow for the bridge deck to be poured on the eastern half of the new bridge over the highway.
Work is also planned on I-40 West at the Airport Boulevard interchange (Exit 284). Drivers will remain in a single lane pattern from the Aviation Parkway interchange and will be detoured up and down the on and off ramps at Airport Boulevard as workers pave the outside shoulder.
Work on both projects is scheduled to begin by 11 p.m. and be completed by 6 a.m. tomorrow.
Motorists need to slow down and pay extra attention as they travel through the work zones.
