MORRISVILLE — N.C. Department of Transportation contractors plan to close Interstate 40 East at Airport Boulevard (Exit 284) tonight to shift traffic toward the shoulder.
I-40 East will close from 11 p.m. until tomorrow at 6 a.m., so crews can restripe lanes for the temporary pattern which will be in place for about two years.
The detour will be short as law enforcement will direct traffic up and down the on and off ramps at the interchange.
Westbound I-40 will also have a double inside lane closure tonight to allow crews to safely pave near the median.
Motorists need to slow down and pay attention as they travel near the work zone.
