WADE – CSX Corp. has informed the N.C. Department of Transportation the company needs to temporarily close Church Street – the main route through the town of Wade – to make repairs to its railroad crossing next week.
The closure is scheduled to begin at 7:30 a.m. Monday. The road is expected to reopen by the following afternoon.
A nearly six-mile detour will direct drivers coming from Interstate 95 to go south on U.S. 301, turn right onto Rich Walker Road; and right onto Jackie Lee Road, returning to Church Street. People entering Wade from the west side will take the same detour in reverse.
Drivers should anticipate a longer commute early next week and use caution near the work zone.
