LEXINGTON – N.C. Department of Transportation contract crews plan to close lanes on Interstate 85 overnight several times this week as part of an airport safety project in Davidson County.
Two of three lanes in both directions of I-85 are scheduled to close at the Hargrave Road interchange (Exit 88) at 8 each night Monday through Thursday and reopen by 6 the following mornings.
The closures are needed to install special lighting that will expand the capabilities of Runway 6 at the Davidson County Airport. The project is a joint effort with NCDOT's Division of Aviation.
Drivers should slow down and anticipate the lane reductions near the Hargrave Road interchange and be mindful of crews working close to the travel lanes during these time periods.
