RALEIGH – Construction continues on the Complete 540 (Triangle Expressway extension) project. Utility contractors for the project have scheduled a temporary road closure on U.S. 401 between Donny Brook Road/Old McCullers Road and Ransdell Road on Saturday, October 10 beginning at 6:30 A.M for utility relocation. The temporary road closure is scheduled to last for approximately one hour.
The detour routes will be as follows:
U.S. 401 Southbound (Closed to thru traffic, access maintained to Chandler Ridge Apartments)
- Donny Brook Road to Ransdell Road to U.S. 401 South
U.S. 401 Northbound (Closed)
- Ransdell Road to Donny Brook Road to U.S. 401 North
Drivers need to use caution and slow down while going through the work zones and detour routes.
The first phase of the Complete 540 Project extends the existing Triangle Expressway (Toll N.C. 540) between the N.C. 55 Bypass and Interstate 40. Residents and drivers can receive construction updates by visiting ncdot.gov/projects/complete-540/Pages/planned-construction-activities.aspx. The first phase could open to traffic as early as 2023.
