HILLSBOROUGH – N.C. Department of Transportation contract crews plan to install overnight lane closures this week on Interstate 40 in Orange County.
Sections of I-40 are set to be reduced to one lane in either direction between the junction with I-85 and the U.S. 15-501 interchange from 8 Wednesday and Thursday nights until 6 the following mornings.
The work will enable to contractor to safely perform concrete pavement testing for the future project to widen the interstate to six lanes. Another similar closure is planned for next week.
Drivers should anticipate the lane reduction, slow down and be mindful of crews working near the travel lanes in this area.
