U.S. 421 Lane Closures Upcoming in Forsyth County

KERNERSVILLE – State transportation contractors plan to close lanes on U.S. 421 overnight Monday as part of ongoing work on the Macy Grove Road extension project.

The right lane of U.S. 421 North and left lane of U.S. 421 South are scheduled to close near the Macy Grove Road interchange at Exit 221 from 7 p.m. Monday to 7 a.m. Tuesday.

The lane closures are needed to safely install a new overhead sign structure. That process will also require closing all lanes the northbound side of the highway after midnight for periods of up to 30 minutes at a time.

The closures are weather dependent and subject to change.

This work is among final steps for the project to construct a 1.7-mile extension of Macy Grove Road between East Mountain Street and North Main Street in eastern Kernersville. The new route opened to traffic in early October.

Drivers should slow down and be mindful of crews working near the travel lanes along this section of U.S. 421 and anticipate delays during the full closures.
