Briggs Avenue Ramp to Southbound Durham Freeway to Close This Weekend

DURHAM — N.C. Department of Transportation contractors are set to temporarily close the ramp from Briggs Avenue to southbound N.C. 147/Durham Freeway this weekend.

The ramp will close at 9 p.m. tonight to allow crews to complete some repair work on the bridge over the railroad near the end of the ramp. The ramp is set to reopen by 5 p.m. Sunday.

During the closure, a signed detour will direct drivers on Briggs Avenue who want to head southbound on the freeway to instead go north two exits to Fayetteville Road (Exit 12A), where they can turn left to cross over the highway and then left again to get onto the southbound lanes.

Drivers should pay extra attention to the revised traffic pattern and detour signs and allow extra time to navigate the detour.

This work is associated with the East End Connector project.
