DURHAM — N.C. Department of Transportation contractors plan to close Alston Avenue between Gann Street and Angier Avenue next weekend to perform utility work as part of the project to widen Alston Avenue in Durham.
Alston Avenue will be closed to traffic from 9 a.m. Dec. 18 until noon Dec. 21.
As the Alston Avenue-Holloway Street intersection remains temporarily closed, northbound Alston Avenue traffic will be detoured to N.C. 147 North, Elizabeth, Fayetteville, and Geer Streets to get back to Alston Avenue.
Southbound traffic will follow the same detour, but in reverse.
Local traffic will still be able to utilize Alston Avenue using Main, Taylor, and Liberty Streets via Elizabeth Street.
Drivers should allow extra time to navigate the detours and pay extra attention while driving near the work zone.
