CHAPEL HILL – N.C. Department of Transportation contract crews plan to install an overnight lane closure this week on Interstate 40 in Orange County.
The right lane of eastbound I-40 is set to close between New Hope Church Road (Exit 263) and U.S. 15-501 (Exit 270) from 8 Thursday until 6 a.m. Friday.
The lane reduction is needed for crews to safely perform ongoing concrete pavement testing for the future project to widen the interstate to six lanes.
Drivers should anticipate the closure, slow down and be mindful of crews working near the travel lanes in this area.
