CHARLOTTE – Tonight, N.C. Department of Transportation contract crews will close a section of Westinghouse Boulevard between South Boulevard and Downs Road as part of the I-485 express lanes project underway to add an express lane in the median and deliver additional corridor improvements along Interstate 485 between I-77 and U.S. 74 (Independence Boulevard).
Crews will begin setting girders for a new bridge to the outside of the highway, making space in the median for the future Westinghouse Boulevard direct connector. This will require a full closure in both directions from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m. tonight and Thursday night.
A detour will be in place for drivers from Westinghouse Boulevard to South Boulevard, N.C. 51, and Downs Road.
