KANNAPOLIS – N.C. Department of Transportation contract crews are opening a new alignment of S. Ridge Avenue this afternoon as part of the
I-85 widening project from north of Exit 55 (N.C. 73) to north of Moose Road in Rowan County.
Part of the new alignment includes permanently closing the
railroad crossing between S. Ridge Avenue and Kannapolis Highway. Drivers will now use the new alignment and roundabout at the Stewart Street/Winecoff School Road intersection to get to Kannapolis Highway.
Motorists are encouraged to pay attention and allow extra time to reach their destinations safely.
