NCDOT Awards Resurfacing Contract for Nash County

ROCKY MOUNT – Three sections of primary highways, plus 10 secondary routes, in Nash County will be repaved next year.

The state's Transportation Department this month awarded a $3.2 million contract to Barnhill Contracting Co. of Rocky Mount to mill away the old pavement, place new asphalt and restripe 38 miles of roadway across the county. The improvements will include:

  • North Wesleyan Boulevard (U.S. 301) between College Road and West Battleboro Avenue (both directions);
  • Finch Avenue (U.S. 264 Alternate) between the Middlesex town limits and east of Planer Mill Road; and
  • West Nash Street (N.C. 33) between U.S. 301 and N.C. 4.

In addition, sections of these secondary routes will be resurfaced under the contract: Rocky Cross, Harrison, Red Oak, Friday, Vickers, Red Oak Battleboro, Sykes, Holly, Lake Royale and Mount Zion Church roads.

The contractor may begin after March 15 and has until October complete the work.
