Glenwood, Wade Avenues to be Resurfaced Under New Contract

RALEIGH – Thanks to a new $5.7 million contract awarded by the N.C. Department of Transportation, significant portions of both Glenwood and Wade avenues will be resurfaced.

An 8.2-mile stretch of Glenwood Avenue/U.S. 70 will be resurfaced from just inside the Beltline out to Interstate 540.

On Wade Avenue, a 3.3-mile segment from the railroad bridge just west of Capital Boulevard to Ridge Road will be resurfaced.

The department also awarded a $5.5 million contract to resurface 25.3 miles of state-maintained roads throughout Durham County.

Both contracts were awarded to Fred Smith Company of Raleigh. Work can begin as soon as June 2 and must be complete by Nov. 15, 2022.
