Overnight Closures Planned for Wade Avenue at I-440 Interchange This Week

RALEIGH — N.C. Department of Transportation crews are planning overnight closures for Wade Avenue this week as a part of the Interstate 440 Improvements Project.

From midnight on Monday and Tuesday nights until 5 a.m. the next day, westbound Wade Avenue will close at the I-440 interchange to allow crews to set girders for the new highway bridge over the westbound lanes of Wade Avenue.

A detour will lead drivers onto I-440 East and up to Lake Boone Trail to turn around and then access westbound Wade Avenue.

On Wednesday and Thursday nights at the same times, eastbound Wade Avenue will close at the interchange for the girders over the eastbound lanes to be set. The loop from I-440 West to eastbound Wade Avenue (Exit 4A) will also be closed.

A detour will lead drivers onto I-440 West to Hillsborough Street to turn around and then access eastbound Wade Avenue.

All work is weather dependent and rain dates are planned for the following night.

Motorists need to pay attention near the work zone and anticipate needing extra time for the detours.
