CHARLOTTE – Crews will close I-77 North at 11 p.m. tonight to inspect the bridge taking Clarkson Street over the roadway. The bridge was struck Friday morning, Feb. 26.
An initial inspection by local engineers deemed the structure safe. Structure engineers from Raleigh will take a second look tonight while contractors use this time to repair damaged barrier wall.
During the closure, traffic will be detoured to the collector lanes at exit 9 (John Belk Freeway/Wilkinson Boulevard). Lanes should reopen by 5 a.m. Tuesday.
