Brookside Camp Road Next in Series Over I-26

HENDERSONVILLE – Brookside Camp Road is next in a series of bridge replacement locations over Interstate 26 in Henderson County.

A contractor for the N.C. Department of Transportation is scheduled to close the bridge on Brookside Camp Road over I-26 for 14 days starting Monday.

Crews will use those two weeks to connect a new bridge to Brookside Camp Road on both sides and apply the finishing touches to the bridge including new lane markings. Then crews will remove the old bridge in segments at night.

Southbound traffic on Brookside Camp Road will be detoured to Howard Gap Road, Naples Road and U.S. 25 (Asheville Highway). Northbound traffic will use those roads in reverse.

The bridge on Brookside Camp Road is one of seven bridges over I-26 in Henderson County being replaced as part of a larger project to widen I-26 by multiple lanes.

Transportation officials remind drivers to be alert and slow down in work zones while also obeying all posted traffic signs.
