Raleigh Central Service Office Ready to Serve Citizens

RALEIGH – The N.C. Division of Motor Vehicles’ new Raleigh Central Service Office will officially open for business May 10 following a ribbon-cutting ceremony today.

The office’s new location at 4121 New Bern Ave., Suite 150, at the Wilders Grove Shopping Center, will include a new Driver License Office and a state-operated License Plate Agency.

The Driver License Office, which will be one of the largest in the state, becomes the third such office in Raleigh. The License Plate Agency was previously located at the old DMV Headquarters building at 1100 New Bern Ave. The new facility will also serve as a field office for the DMV License & Theft Bureau.

“This is an exciting time for DMV as we have now completed the headquarters relocation to Rocky Mount with the opening of this magnificent office complex in Raleigh,” said N.C. Department of Transportation Secretary Eric Boyette. “This is a special day for everyone working here. Our employees are excited to serve citizens from this area and from across the state.”

Boyette was joined at the ribbon cutting ceremony by several state legislators, as well as DMV Commissioner Torre Jessup and DMV directors and managers.

The Raleigh Central Service Office hours will be 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday for both the Driver License Office and the License Plate Agency. Customers visiting the Driver License Office will be required to make an appointment by visiting skiptheline.ncdot.gov. Customers obtaining specialty plates, driving records certifications and representatives of automotive dealerships will also be able to conduct business at the state-operated License Plate Agency, which does not require an appointment. All customers visiting the Raleigh Central Service Office are required to wear a mask or other face covering.

DMV also offers driver license/state ID and vehicle registration renewals and many other services online. Customers are encouraged to check the DMV website at MyNCDMV.gov to see if their license/ID or vehicle registration needs can be met online.
