Old McCullers Road Temporary Closure as Part of Ongoing Complete 540 Construction

RALEIGH – The North Carolina Turnpike Authority is continuing construction of the southern portion of the Complete 540 project, which will extend the Triangle Expressway (Toll N.C. 540) from N.C. 55 Bypass to Interstate 40.

On or about May 24, 2021, Old McCullers Road will temporarily close to traffic where the future Toll N.C. 540 will cross Old McCullers Road. The section of Old McCullers Road, north of where Old McCullers Road turns into Advantage Way, and south of Ten Ten Road, near the Wake Technical Community College – Southern Wake Campus, is scheduled to remain closed through Fall 2021. Contractors will be performing truck hauling operations and bridge construction in the area. Road closure and detour signs will be installed. Please reference the map above for further details.

Motorists should plan to take the detour route by following signs along the roadway, taking Ten Ten Road west to Fayetteville Road (U.S. 401), south on Fayetteville Road (U.S. 401) and then east to Old McCullers Road. The reverse will be used for detouring traffic in the opposite direction. Residents along Old McCullers Road will maintain access throughout the scheduled closure. More detour information is available at DriveNC.gov.

Drivers should use caution and slow down while traveling through the work zones and along the detour routes.
