Overnight Closures Planned for I-40/I-440 Junction in Southeast Raleigh

RALEIGH – N.C. Department of Transportation contractors are planning overnight closures at the junction of Interstate 40 and I-440 this week as part of the widening of I-40 from Southeast Raleigh to Clayton.

Tonight, and the next three nights from midnight to 5 a.m. the next day, access from I-40 East to I-440 West is scheduled to be closed.

A detour will direct drivers to continue on I-40 East to Exit 303 (Jones Sausage Road) to turn around and take I-40 West to Exit 301 to get to I-440 West.

The closures will allow for bridge girder installation on the new structure carrying I-40 West over the ramp from I-40 East to I-440 West (Exit 301).

Drivers should allow extra time to navigate the detour route and pay extra attention while driving through the work zone.
