One-Month Closure Planned for I-85 Project in Rowan County

SALISBURY – Starting this weekend, N.C. Department of Transportation contractors will temporarily close two lanes of Interstate 85 for one month.

On Sunday, July 25, at 10 p.m., crews will close the two outer lanes of I-85 South between mile markers 71 and 69 to begin repairing concrete slabs for the lanes and the outside shoulder. All traffic on I-85 South within the 2-mile work zone will be shifted to the two inner lanes.

In conjunction with this closure, the ramp from Webb Road (Exit 70) to I-85 South will also be inaccessible. Traffic will be detoured to I-85 North and Peach Orchard Road to access I-85 South.

Work is expected to be complete by Aug. 29, weather permitting.

Motorists should expect some delays and use caution while approaching the work zone and using the detour.
