WINSTON-SALEM – Starting this weekend, contract crews will have several nightly closures for the ongoing improvement project along Interstate 40 in Forsyth County.
Weather permitting, the following nightly lane closures are scheduled from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. to allow crews to perform pavement rehabilitation:
- From Aug. 1-5, two of three lanes will be closed from the I-40/U.S. 421 (Mile Marker 188) to Peter's Creek Parkway (Mile Marker 192.
- From Aug. 3-5, two of three lanes on I-40 West will be closed from west of Highway 52 (Mile Marker 193.5) to west of Peter's Creek Parkway (Mile Marker 191.5).
In addition to the lane closures, on Aug. 1-5 from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m., the ramp onto I-40 East from Peter's Creek Parkway will be closed to perform preservation work on the bridge near the end of the ramp. A signed detour directing traffic onto I-40 West to Hanes Mall Blvd. and back to I-40 East will be in place nightly.
Motorists should plan accordingly for delays and use caution while traveling through the work zone.
