Multiple Closures on I-40 in Forsyth County Set for Next Week

WINSTON-SALEM – Starting this weekend, contract crews will have several nightly closures for the ongoin​g improvement project along Interstate 40 in Forsyth County.

Weather permitting, the following nightly lane closures are scheduled from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. to allow crews to perform pavement rehabilitation:
  • From Aug. 1-5, two of three lanes will be closed from the I-40/U.S. 421 (Mile Marker 188) to Peter's Creek Parkway (Mile Marker 192.
  • From Aug. 3-5, two of three lanes on I-40 West will be closed from west of Highway 52 (Mile Marker 193.5) to west of Peter's Creek Parkway (Mile Marker 191.5).
In addition to the lane closures, on Aug. 1-5 from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m., the ramp onto I-40 East from Peter's Creek Parkway will be closed to perform preservation work on the bridge near the end of the ramp. A signed detour directing traffic onto I-40 West to Hanes Mall Blvd. and back to I-40 East will be in place nightly.

Motorists should plan accordingly for delays and use caution while traveling through the work zone.
