Upcoming Closures on I-40 in Forsyth County

​WINSTON-SALEM – Starting this weekend, contract crews will have several nightly closures for the ongoing improvement project along Interstate 40 in Forsyth County.

Weather permitting, the following nightly lane closures are scheduled from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. to allow crews to perform pavement rehabilitation:

  • On Aug. 22, two of three lanes on I-40 East will be closed from the I-40/U.S. 421 split (mile marker 187.5) to east of Stratford Road (mile marker 189.5).
  • From Aug. 23-26, two of three lanes on I-40 West will be closed from east of Stratford Road (mile marker 190.5) to west of Stratford Road (mile marker 188.5).
The following ramp closures are scheduled from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m.:

  • On Aug. 22, the ramp from Stratford Road to I-40 East will be closed to perform preservation work on the bridge near the end of the ramp. A signed detour route will be in place nightly that directs traffic to Hanes Mall Boulevard to merge onto I-40 East.    
  • On the nights of Aug. 25 and Aug. 26, the ramp from Stratford Road to I-40 West will be closed to perform rehabilitation work on the ramp lanes. A signed detour route will be in place nightly that directs traffic north on Stratford Road to Silas Creek Parkway, Salem Parkway and I-40 West.  
Motorists should plan accordingly for delays and use caution while traveling through the work zones.
