RALEIGH — N.C. Department of Transportation contractors plan to close a segment of New Bern Avenue for the weekend of Sept. 17 for utility work.
At 7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 17, the road will be closed between Swain and Cooke streets as crews replace a crossline pipe.
The detour will use Swain, Hargett and State streets to get around the closure.
Weather permitting, New Bern Avenue is scheduled reopen by 4 p.m. Monday, Sept. 20 in time for the evening commute.
Drivers should allow extra time for the detour and pay extra attention while driving near the work zone.
