DURHAM — N.C. Department of Transportation contractors plan to close Alston Avenue (N.C. 55) between Main and Holloway streets during the daytime next week to install the final pavement as part of the project to widen the street.
Alston Avenue will be closed from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday. A detour will follow Main, Elizabeth, and Geer streets.
Eastway Elementary School traffic will be detoured from Main Street to Hyde Park Avenue and Juniper Street to get around the closure and access the school.
Drivers should allow extra time to navigate the detours and pay extra attention while driving near the work zone.
