Lane Closures on U.S. 421 in Forsyth County Begin This Week

WINSTON-SALEM – Beginning this week, N.C. Department of Transportation contractors will have intermittent lane closures along a major thoroughfare for three weeks to continue work on the future Interstate 74 corridor as part of the Winston-Salem Northern Beltway project.

Starting Friday at 8 p.m., one lane of U.S. 421 North just past Exit 224 (South Main Street) is scheduled to be closed, weather permitting. A single lane may be closed off and on and for multiple days at a time until Oct. 6, when the work is expected to be complete.

The closures will allow crews to remove the existing temporary barrier wall, improve the asphalt grade and shift the traffic to the inside lanes.

Motorists are encouraged to drive slowly and remain vigilant while traveling through the work zone.
