Temporary Closures on Donny Brook Road as Part of Ongoing Complete 540 Construction

RALEIGH - The North Carolina Turnpike Authority is continuing construction of the southern portion of the Complete 540 project, which will extend the Triangle Expressway (Toll N.C. 540) from N.C. 55 Bypass to Interstate 40.

Contractors for the project have scheduled a road closure on Donny Brook Road from Saturday, October 2 at 6 a.m. to Monday, October 4 at 5 a.m. near the Complete 540 construction site to install a sewer line across Donny Brook Road. Donny Brook Road will be closed to through traffic between Ransdell Road and Fayetteville Road (U.S. 401). Donny Brook Road will be closed to all traffic between Reigate Lane and Fayetteville Road (U.S. 401).

Detour routes will be as follows:

From U.S. 401 South

  • U.S. 401 South turn right on Ransdell Road
  • Ransdell Road turn right on Donny Brook Road (or from Ransdell Road turn left on Donny Brook Road to Optimist Farm Road)

From U.S. 401 North

  • U.S. 401 North turn left on Ten Ten Road
  • Ten Ten Road turn left on Lake Wheeler Road
  • Lake Wheeler Road turn left on Donny Brook Road (or from Lake Wheeler Road turn right on Optimist Farm Road)

Contractors have planned another road closure to occur at the same location beginning Saturday, October 9 at 6 a.m. to Monday, October 11 at 5 a.m. so contractors can pave and tie-in the new Donny Brook Road alignment to U.S. 401. Signage will be installed advising travelers of upcoming closures and detour routes.

On or around October 11, Donny Brook Road will be permanently re-aligned to tie into U.S. 401 across from Wake Tech Way. This work is weather dependent.

Drivers should use caution and slow down while traveling through the work zones and detour routes.
