Ramp Closures Coming to I-277 in Uptown Charlotte

CHARLOTTE – N.C. Department of Transportation contract crews will continue a $16.3 million project to improve 22 bridges along Interstate 277 in uptown tonight.

The contractor will be installing pavement markings throughout the project limits, requiring ramp closures so the work can be performed safely. Closures are permitted between 9 p.m. and 6 a.m., though the ramp closures may not last the entire period.

Drivers should stay alert for these intermittent ramp closures:

  • From U.S. 74 West to the inner and outer loops
  • From Interstate 77 North to the outer loop

In addition, entrance and exit ramps may close intermittently in either direction on the John Belk Freeway section of I-277 between U.S. 74 and I-77.

All closures are weather dependent and subject to change. Detour information will be posted on DriveNC.gov, searching under Mecklenburg County.
