Alamance County Interchange Closing for Weekend

MEBANE – The Interstate 40/85 interchange at N.C. 119 is set to close for the weekend as part of the ongoing Mebane Bypass project.

Contract crews plan to close all ramps at the interchange at 7 p.m. Friday because they will be closing N.C. 119 to pave the road between Lowes Boulevard and Holmes Road – from one side of the Interstate to the other. The closure is expected to be in place through 6 a.m. Monday.

Northbound N.C. 119 traffic will be detoured to Third Street, Gibson Road and Trollingwood Hawfields Road to access I-40/85 and southbound traffic will be sent to Fifth Street (N.C. 119) and Trollingwood Hawfields Road to access the interstate.

Interstate traffic wanting to head north on N.C. 119 will take Exit 152 for Trollingwood Road and follow Gibson Road to Third Street. Drivers wanting to get from the interstate to southbound N.C. 119 will also use the Trollingwood Road exit and head south to N.C. 119.

Drivers should be cautious near this work zone this weekend and allow extra time for the detours.
