Update: I-40 in Statesville Reopens Ahead of Schedule

STATESVILLE – N.C. Department of Transportation crews have reopened all lanes of Interstate 40 West in Iredell County one day ahead of schedule following an emergency bridge repair.

This morning around 5:30 a.m., all lanes of I-40 West between mile markers 144 and 141 were reopened after the bridge over Beulah Road was closed Friday morning. Work was originally anticipated to be complete by Oct. 26.

The closure was necessary to allow crews to safely repair sections of the bridge deck.

Crews worked through the day on Friday and Saturday, allowing concrete and patchwork on the road to set on Sunday.

There were no injuries or reports of vehicles damaged in relation to this incident.
