New Traffic Pattern Coming to U.S. 52 in Forsyth County

WINSTON-SALEM - Beginning next weekend, N.C. Department of Transportation contract crews will temporarily close lanes on a Forsyth County road as work continues on the Northern Beltway Interchange project.

Beginning Dec. 3 at 9 a.m., the right lane of U.S. 52 South from Westinghouse Road to the Ziglar Road bridge and the U.S. 52 loop from N.C. 65 will be closed. The closures will allow crews to begin paving to tie in the existing U.S. 52 South lanes with the new U.S. 52 alignment. Work is expected to be complete by 5 a.m. Dec. 6.

The detour for the N.C. 65 on-ramp to U.S. 52 South will follow U.S. 52 North at N.C. 65, exit at Westinghouse Road, and turn left to return to U.S. 52 South.

Traffic patterns will vary during this timeframe and when all work is complete, all traffic will be on the new U.S. 52 South alignment. Early warning message boards and signs will be up showing the traffic pattern.

Motorists should use caution when approaching the work zone and pay attention to all signs and barrels.
