GARNER – Bridge demolition as part of the widening project from Southeast Raleigh to Clayton will require some overnight closures of Interstate 40 West beginning tonight.
There will be 30-minute closures approaching the old Cleveland Road bridge over the interstate so it can be taken down safely. The closures will be in place Tuesday through Thursday nights between midnight and 5 a.m. this week and Sunday through Wednesday nights next week for the westbound lanes, and then crews will put the same brief closures in place for the eastbound side of the highway for the following week.
Drivers need to slow down and use extra caution when going through the work zone.
