ASHEVILLE — Over the weekend, a contractor for the N.C. Department of Transportation will close the section of Glenn Bridge Road where it crosses under Interstate 26 along with the intersection of New Rockwood Road and Glenn Bridge Road located just east of I-26.
Crews working on the I-26 widening project will utilize the closure to improve the stormwater drainage system and relocate a sewer line.
When construction is complete, new bridges over Glenn Bridge Road will carry four lanes of I-26 traffic in each direction.
The closure begins at 7 p.m. Friday and continues until 6 a.m. Monday. All drivers will be detoured to the appropriate sequence of Bradley Branch Road, Airport Road, and Brevard Road.
Transportation officials remind drivers to remain alert and obey all posted signs.
