Statesville Avenue Ramps to Close Temporarily

CHARLOTTE – N.C. Department of Transportation contract crews will temporarily close two ramps from Interstates 85 and 77 to Statesville Avenue north of uptown Charlotte as part of a $15.3 million contract awarded last June to improve approximately seven miles of I-85 between exits 36 and 42.

Crews will close the exit ramps from I-77 North (exit 13A) and I-85 North (exit 39) to Statesville Avenue at 9 p.m. Friday, March 25. The closures will be in place until 6 a.m. Monday, April 11. This will allow workers to safely remove and rebuild the existing concrete surface on the ramps.

The following detours will be in place for drivers:

  • I-77 North/South: Take exit 12 (LaSalle Street) to access Statesville Avenue.
  • I-85 North: Take exit 38 (I-77), continuing south to exit 12 (LaSalle Street) to return to Statesville Avenue.

Drivers exiting from I-77 will be able to continue to I-85. Only the Statesville Avenue ramps are affected by these closures.

NCDOT will display alerts on nearby overhead message boards, when possible, in addition to the contractor's portable message signs.
