Maintenance Work Starting on I-40 in Forsyth County

​WINSTON-SALEM – Starting tomorrow, crews will close lanes along sections of Interstate 40 in Forsyth County for an ongoing rehabilitation and bridge preservation project, weather permitting.

The following lane closures are scheduled to take place between 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. the following morning:

  • On March 30 and 31, two of three lanes are scheduled to be closed on I-40 West from U.S. 52 to east of Peters Creek Parkway; and two of three lanes are scheduled to be closed on I-40 East from the U.S. 421/I-40 split to west of Peters Creek Parkway.
  • On March 31, one of two lanes is scheduled to be closed on I-40 East and I-40 West between east of Union Cross Road and west of Union Cross Road.

The following ramp and lane closures are scheduled to take place between 9 p.m. and 6 a.m. the following morning:

  • On March 30, one of two northbound lanes is scheduled to be closed on the Stratford Road bridge over I-40; and the offramp from I-40 East to Stratford Road (Exit 189) is scheduled to be closed with a signed detour that will direct traffic to U.S. 52 North and back to I-40 West.
  • On March 31, the ramp from Hanes Mall Boulevard to I-40 East is tentatively scheduled to be closed with a signed ​detour. The detour will direct traffic to Stratford Road and Silas Creek Parkway to access I-40 East. 

Beginning at midnight on March 30, the ramp from Stratford Road to I-40 East is tentatively scheduled to be closed with a signe​d detour​​. The detour will direct traffic to Hanes Mall Boulevard to merge onto I-40 East.

Motorists are reminded to use caution while traveling through the work zones and plan for delays due to the detours.
