One-Month Improvement Project Coming to Forsyth County

WALKERTOWN – An N.C. Department of Transportation contractor will close a road in Forsyth County for one month for a construction project starting next week as part of the Winston-Salem Northern Beltway project.

Beginning April 11, Old Walkertown Road will be closed between Dippen Road and Northampton Drive while crews widen a center turn lane. NCDOT contractors will also begin work on the grade improvement of Old Walkertown Road and the Norfolk Southern railroad crossing at Northampton Road. Work is expected to be complete by May 11.

Elevation changes of almost four feet in this area prohibit the work from being done under live traffic, so drivers will follow signed detours using Dippen, Davis and Old Hollow roads.

Motorists are reminded to remain alert and plan accordingly for delay due to the detour.
